Moving into our Second Year in Nashville
07.23.2013 The Nashville Business Journal recently ran a story about Frazier & Deeter as an update one year after we merged with Work & Greer. The Business Journal’s story focused on our growth in terms of people, which at 53% has certainly been significant. But our team in Nashville is more than just a growth percentage. We thought it would be fun to look at the year in retrospect.
Mergers are inherently complex and this was no exception. The team in Nashville had to learn new software and processes. This was especially important in audit, given Frazier & Deeter’s procedures were developed by former members of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. These rigorous processes have enabled F&D to consistently receive top ratings from the AICPA peer review and the PCAOB. Happily people from our Atlanta headquarters were excited to come to Nashville to help smooth the transition…and check out some Nashville institutions like Puckett’s and Robert’s. And Fireballs.
And then we moved! It was a bit sad to leave the Work & Greer building but our new offices are beautiful and modern and still right in the heart of downtown Nashville.
One of the best parts about the first year was expanding some Frazier & Deeter traditions – like a holiday open house bash! The food and festivities took on a very Nashville flavor when Stephen Jernigan got out his fiddle to entertain the crowd. Check out the photos on our Facebook page.
People got a chance to show their creativity in the annual tacky ornament contest. John Taylor’s F&D ornament with its snowmen was a favorite among the marketing team.
And most recently we had our post-busy season bowling party. We found out Mary Moran is our stealth rock star bowler. Even more surprising, given the bowling venue, was discovering Perry Griffin has such serious dance moves – the Wobble, anyone?
Having fun as we grow is a Frazier & Deeter tradition. As we move forward into our second year in Nashville we’re excited to be recruiting more new great people , like our new Partner Chase Wright who moved to F&D from Deloitte. Of course this is a perfect reason to have another party! More on that in a future blog.
